François Ozon
François OZON (1967, France) is one of the most prolific and acclaimed French filmmakers of his generation. He studied film at La Fémis in Paris, where he began directing short films that revealed his sharp, ironic style. His debut feature Sitcom (1998) was selected for Critics’ Week in Cannes, followed by Water Drops on Burning Rocks (2000), adapted from Rainer Werner Fassbinder. With 8 Women (2002) and Swimming Pool (2003), Ozon achieved international recognition. Since then, he has created a diverse body of work ranging from comedies and melodramas to thrillers, often exploring sexuality, desire and family relations. His films have been selected for major international festivals, including Berlin, Venice and Cannes.
