Claes Söderquist

Claes SÖDERQUIST (1939) is a Swedish artist and filmmaker. He studied painting at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. After that, he started working as a curator and filmmaker. He was Chairman of Filmform’s board from 1999 until 2012. Söderquist has curated several comprehensive exhibitions at Moderna Museet in Stockholm. Söderquist has exhibited his own films and video works at the Center of Contemporary Art in Kristianstad (2014), and a solo exhibition of his work was presented at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Stockholm 2013). This retrospective of his work brought attention to Söderquist as one of the most important but little known experimental filmmakers in Sweden. His films have been screened at Avant (2006), Moderna Museet (2012) and Turbidus Film (2014).
