Carlos Reygadas
Carlos REYGADAS (1971, Mexico) started making short films in 1998, after studying International Law in Mexico and London. He made his feature debut with Japón, which premiered at IFFR in 2002 and was nominated for the Golden Camera in Cannes. Batalla en el cielo (2005), his follow-up feature, was named one of the decade’s best films by the British Film Institute, calling Reygadas “the one-man third wave of Mexican cinema”. Stellet licht (2007) premiered at Cannes, where it won the Jury Prize, and also won the Gold Hugo at Chicago International Film Festival. With Post tenebras lux (2012), Reygadas earned his third Golden Palm nomination and won the Cannes Best Director Award. Nuestro tiempo (2018) premiered in Venice and was nominated for a Golden Lion.
