Angela Wanjiku Wamai

Angela WANJIKU WAMAI (Kenya) is an editor, writer and filmmaker. She studied film at La Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV) in Havana, Cuba and now works as a film editor in Nairobi. She won Best Film Editor at the Women in Film awards in Kenya. She admits she is drawn to stories about broken men, but often tries to lighten the melancholic world of her films with humour. She wrote the short film I Had to Bury Cũcũ (2018) that premiered at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. Her directorial debut Dad, Are You Ok? (2020) premiered at the International Female Film Festival in Malmö. Shimoni (2022) is her feature-length directorial debut.
