Tomás Pichardo Espaillat

Tomás PICHARDO ESPAILLAT (1987) is an animation storyteller from the Dominican Republic. His animations have been screened at multiple international film festivals, including Annecy Animation, Quirino Awards, Havana Film Festival and Pictoplasma in Berlin. Pichardo’s work has hints of magic realism, evoking the colourful, surreal and sometimes disorienting experience of the Caribbean. His world is intimate, with characters full of colours and textures, drawn into situations outside of their comfort zone. His newest film, Olivia & las Nubes (2024), was screened at Locarno Film Festival and London Film Festival, among others.
