Sonja Tarokić
Sonja TAROKIĆ (1988, Croatia) is a filmmaker and screenwriter. She holds an MA in film directing from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb and a BA in comparative literature from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. She directed several acclaimed short fiction films before making her feature debut with The Staffroom, which premiered in the main competition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2021. Alongside her filmmaking practice, Tarokić works in commercials and music videos, publishes film theory essays, and teaches film directing at the Zagreb Academy. She is also active as a script consultant and mentor in international development programmes. Her feature Wind Beneath the Wings (2025) is selected for IFFR 2026.
