Sheree Lenting

Sheree LENTING is a dance artist with Surinamese heritage based in Rotterdam. She earned her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Dance & Education from the Amsterdam University of Arts and has travelled around the African diaspora to hone her practice, which focuses on hip-hop and Africanist movement. Using movement and film she brings together multiple art forms in her work. A storyteller at heart, she draws from black experiences to create art that is a reflection of our times. She has been awarded several grants, most recently the New Makers grant from Fonds Podium Kunsten for her research The R/Evolution of Black Dance and What Came Before HipHop. Her mission is to uplift, empower and transform the world through her art. SHE, co-directed with Kiraly Saint Claire, is her first film release.
