Riri Riza
Riri RIZA (1970, Indonesia) made a name for himself in his home country as a director of television films and documentaries. He studied scriptwriting in London. His fiction films have been awarded at various festivals. Riza also worked as a producer for several Indonesian box office successes. He co-directed his first feature Kuldesak in 1998 and made his solo debut with Petualangan Sherina in 2000. His films have been repeatedly showcased at IFFR, including Eliana, Eliana (2002), Gie (2005) Takut: Faces of Fear and A Purification Pod (2008) and Atambua 39° Celsius (2012). He explores Indonesia’s social and political transformations through intimate, personal stories.
