Rezwan Shahriar Sumit

Rezwan Shahriar SUMIT (Bangladesh) is a filmmaker working at the intersection of entertainment and social impact. A graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts, his thesis production, Barbara Cigarroa’s short film Dios Nunca Muere, premiered at the New York Film Festival. His debut feature The Salt in Our Waters (2020) brought international attention to Bangladesh’s climate-change frontliners, screening at UN COP26 and UN COY16, receiving support from CNC Aide aux cinémas du monde, and winning seven Bangladesh National Film Awards. Sumit is currently in post-production on two documentaries, Tide Is Rising and First Fairytale Book. His science-fiction feature A New Prophet is supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Film Independent and Torino Film Lab. He also works as a consultant for the World Bank and is a member of the UN Climate Change Entertainment and Culture for Climate Action steering committee. Master (2026) is selected for IFFR 2026.
