René van Zundert

René van ZUNDERT (1981, Netherlands) is a filmmaker and photographer based in Rotterdam. He graduated in 2011 from Willem de Kooning Academy with his documentary Hard voor de Hal, which was selected for various festivals including IDFA, Play and Go Short International Film Festival Nijmegen, where it was also nominated for Best Dutch Film. In his films, he aims to portray raw subjects that reflect real life. He thinks it’s important to tell stories from the south side of Rotterdam, as they reflect the reality and perception of young people who are less visible in documentaries. He made several documentaries in collaboration with VICE
Magazine, such as Transsporters (2016). His films have been screened at Sport Film Festival Rotterdam, NFF, and Milano International FICTS Festival, among others.
