Quentin Dupieux

Quentin DUPIEUX (1974, France) is a filmmaker, musician and DJ. In his musical career, he is known under the pseudonym Mr. Oizo. Although his filmmaking and musical career ran parallel, he first gained significant attention following the release of his track ‘Flat Beat’, which became a hit throughout Europe in 1999. Dupieux is considered a true auteur, given that he is the writer, editor and director of photography for all his films. He even (co-)composed the music for half of his films. Many of them have had their world premieres at major festivals, including Cannes, Venice and Sundance. Dupieux’s films are often unique, skewing away from narrative conventions, with a taste for the absurd and a dark sense of humour. His film Incredible But True (2022) premiered at the Berlinale and Smoking Causes Coughing (2022) in Cannes. Daaaaaali! (2023) premiered at the Venice Film Festival and was also part of the Limelight section at IFFR 2024. His 2023 feature, Yannick, was selected to compete for the Golden Leopard at the 76th Locarno Film Festival. After having its world premiere at Cannes, The Second Act (2024) has its Dutch premiere at IFFR 2025.
