Muayad Alayan
Muayad ALAYAN (1985, Palestine) is a filmmaker and producer based in Jerusalem. He studied Film in San Francisco. Alayan’s first short film& Lesh Sabreen? (2009) premiered at Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival. His first feature, Love Theft and Other Entanglements (2015), premiered in Berlin. The Reports on Sarah and Saleem premiered at IFFR 2018, where it won the Special Jury Prize in the Hivos Tiger Competition and the Hubert Bals Fund Audience Award. A second premiere at IFFR was A House in Jerusalem in 2023. Alayan is co-founder of the Bethlehem-based Palcine Productions. In addition, he worked extensively with youth and community centres and non-governmental organisations on projects promoting cinema culture and cinema infrastructure in Palestine. He also acted as instructor of directing and cinematography at several academic institutions.
