Mizushima Hiné
MIZUSHIMA Hiné is a Japanese-born artist and filmmaker who originally trained in traditional Japanese painting before beginning a career as a designer and illustrator in Tokyo. After living in Rome, Paris and New York, she settled in Vancouver, where she now works primarily as a fibre craft artist. Her intricately hand-made soft sculptures and felted worlds have been exhibited internationally in the USA, Australia and Japan. Mizushima has created a number of stop-motion and craft-based music videos, particularly for the band They Might Be Giants. Her video Lake Monsters (2018), inspired by northern Japanese folk needlework, is selected for IFFR 2026 The Future is NOW focus.
