Miike Takashi

MIIKE Takashi (1960, Japan) graduated from the Yokohama Broadcasting Technical School (formerly known as Nihon Eiga Gakko), and later worked as an assistant director in works by Umetsugu Inoue, Sachio Noda, Hideo Onchi, Shohei Imamura. His directorial debut was Eyecatch Junction (1991), and his first theatrical film, Shinjuku Triad Society, was released in 1995. Miike’s work has been well received all over the world, and he has received many awards at international film festivals. One of his films, Audition, was selected in 2007 as one of TIME Magazine’s top 25 horror movies of all time. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
