Melisa Önel

Melisa ÖNEL (1980, Turkey) studied International Relations at Tufts University, and Film Studies at Istanbul Bilgi University. A photographer and filmmaker, her work has been presented at international exhibitions, in theatres and installations around the world. Her documentary Me and Nuri Bala won Best First Documentary at Antalya Film Festival in 2009, and since, she has continued to make documentaries and feature films. Suddenly (2022) premiered at the Tokyo Film Festival and was selected for IFFR 2023. She lives and works in Istanbul.
