Lilly Hu

Lilly HU was born in southern China and studied filmmaking at the National Taiwan University of the Arts. Her first film was a short documentary about the living conditions of female artists in Chengdu, made for the International Chinese Women’s Film Festival in 2017. Her award-winning American Film Institute thesis film Cold Wall (2021), continues this exploration of female issues: centreing around the desperate acts of a young Chinese woman experiencing an unplanned pregnancy while studying abroad alone in Los Angeles. Her debut feature 1 Girl Infinite (2024) is a Chinese queer drama with Academy Award-winning screenwriter Eric Roth serving as executive producer.
