Lies van der Auwera

Lies VAN DER AUWERA (Belgium) is a freelance filmmaker who graduated from the Higher Institute for Translators and Interpreters in 2000. She went on to obtain an MA degree in Cultural Anthropology at KU Leuven. After teaching Dutch to non-native speakers as well as a film and video course at the DKO Sint-Niklaas, she decided to immerse herself fully in the film and television industry. Since 2006, Lies has worked on numerous television programmes and has made many films for private and government organisations. In recent years, in addition to freelance directing, she has focused on developing documentaries, such as De Roma is Van Ons (2019) and Reset (2021). Skate the City is her documentary short, directed in 2023.
