Kirk Jones

Kirk JONES (1964, England) attended Backwell School and Filton Technical College before studying directing for drama, comedy and television commercials at Newport Film School, University of South Wales. After graduating with a National Student Film Award, he began working in London as a production runner and later became an Assistant Film Editor at BFCS. After a career in advertising, Jones wrote and directed his debut feature Waking Ned (1998), which earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Newcomer and became one of the most successful films of 1999 relative to its budget. He went on to direct a series of internationally successful studio films, working with major actors and production companies, establishing himself as a director of popular, character-driven comedies and dramas.
