José Filipe Costa

José FILIPE COSTA is a filmmaker and lecturer. He holds a PhD from the Royal College of Art, London. His first feature film, A Pleasure, Comrades! premiered at in Locarno 2019. He also directed Red Line (2011), In Between Walls (2002) and the shorts O Caso J. (2017), Sunday (2005) and Outside (2008). His films have been selected for several international festivals, such as Locarno, BFI London, Hot Docs, Viennale, Cinéma du Réel, IndieLisboa and Doclisboa. Besides his career as a filmmaker, he was also a visiting professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro in 2013 and has taught at IADE, ETIC, Instituto Politécnico de Tomar and on the DocNomads, Documentary Film Directing Erasmus Mundus course.
