Jorge Fajardo
Director and writer Jorge FARJARDO (1944, Chile) is one of the most iconoclastic Latin American filmmakers despite his films remaining relatively unknown. He trained as a civil engineer while making his first short film El insomne (1970). Farjado migrated to Canada after Chile’s coup d’état in 1973. There, he continued to build his body of work as a filmmaker and in 2002 he had made 15 titles. Il n’y a pa d’oubli (1975), was his first project co-created with two other Chilean filmmakers: Rodrigo Gonzáles and Marilu Mallet. For a long time, his short film Steel Blues (1976) remained the only film available for the public. Farjado moved towards theatre and has published three books.
