Georgia Oakley

Screenwriter and filmmaker Georgia OAKLEY (1988, UK) studied English Literature at Newcastle University before starting her career in-house directing at Channel 4 and directing branded content. With a self-professed interest in female-led narratives, Oakley’s short films have screened at international festivals worldwide, including New York Film Festival, London Short Film Festival and Berlin Short Film Festival. She was mentored as part of the BFI Flare scheme by fellow filmmaker and actor Desiree Akhavan, who directed titles such as The Miseducation of Cameron Post (2018) and episodes of Hacks and I Love That for You. Oakley’s short film Little Bird (2017) premiered at the TriBeCa International Film Festival and is currently being adapted into a TV series. Her debut feature, Blue Jean (2022), selected for IFFR 2023, won the Giornate Degli Autori People’s Choice award at Venice Film Festival.
