Francisco Baquerizo Racines

Francisco BAQUERIZO RACINES (b. 1993, Quito) is a visual artist from Ecuador, currently based in the Netherlands. He holds an MA in Fine Arts from HKU University of the Arts Utrecht (2022) and a BA in Visual Arts from PUCE (2017). His first solo exhibition, Observando: el tiempo, was presented in 2017 at the Fondo de Cultura Económica in Quito, and his work has been featured in diverse group exhibitions across Ecuador, South America, and the Netherlands. His publication Escrito en Piedra (2019), a collaboration with Adrián Balseca, is held in the archive of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA). Baquerizo Racines has contributed to various films in Ecuador for over a decade, incorporating the moving image as a significant element of his artistic practice. In 2023, he received the Kunstenaar Start grant from Mondriaan Fonds to support the development of his work within different geographies and cultural contexts.
