Fradique Bastos

Angolan Berlin-based filmmaker FRADIQUE is known for his works Independência (2015) and Air Conditioner (2020). His films delve into dystopian worlds exploring themes of memory, mourning, and social justice. Air Conditioner, a MUBI Debut, premiered at International Film Festival Rotterdam, earning critical acclaim.
He co-founded Geração 80 and has been a vocal advocate of Global South cinema at various panels, international film festivals and universities. Fradique holds a BFA in Motion Pictures & Television from the Academy of Arts University and is a Science New Wave Member, Berlinale Talent, Realness Institute, and Film Independent fellow. He recently joined the main curating team of the Africa Film Festival Cologne and the Berlinale Panorama Advisory Committee for the 2024 edition. Currently, he’s writing and developing his new feature film, Hold Time For Me.
