Dmitry Davydov

Dmitry DAVYDOV (1983, USSR) was born in Amga, a rural locality in the Russian Republic of Sakha. He was educated as a primary school teacher and did not have official training as a filmmaker, having only taken several masterclasses in cinema. After making numerous amateur video clips and short films, Davydov directed his first feature, Bonfire, in 2014, for which he also wrote the screenplay. It was presented at over 20 festivals worldwide and won the award for Best Dramatic Feature at the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival in Toronto and the Grand Prix at Yakutsk International Film Festival, making it the first film from the Sakha Republic to win a festival prize outside of Russia. He is currently the director of the Filipp Lobanov Chapchylgan School.
