Christine AYO

AYO is a Kampala-raised, Rotterdam-based multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker whose practice positions people as living repositories of knowledge. Working across sculpture, sound, performance and moving image, she approaches filmmaking as a medium for building plural worlds where intangible cultural heritage and materiality intersect in temporal collaborative spaces. AYO is a resident at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. She has an MFA from Piet Zwart Institute Rotterdam. Her work has been presented at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin and Art Rotterdam, among others.
