Christiane Büchner

Christiane BÜCHNER (1965, Germany) has been working as a freelance author and director of cinema documentaries since 2000. She studied Fine Arts at the Berlin University of the Arts and Television, continuing her studies in Film at the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne. For her diploma thesis, an interactive project for a virtual studio, she received the Best of 3D Animation Award in the Mixed Realities category at Photokina. In 2005 she received the Gerd Ruge Scholarship for her film pereSTROIKA – umBAU einer Wohnung (2008). Her film FAMILY BUSINESS (2015) received the award for best documentary film NRW in 2016. 
She has been a member of the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen programme committee since 2001. Since 2017, Buchner has also been a member of the FFA award committee for Screenplay and Production.
She is also the co-founder of the LaDOC film network. Besides her work as a filmmaker, she has taught film and other forms of time-based media since 2001.
