Uganda’s VJ Emmy brings the art of live dubbing to IFFR for a sound//vision performance. Emmy Batte, aka VJ Emmy, is one of Uganda’s leading video jokers. He became an international sensation when his collaborations with the Ugandan action-movie studio Wakaliwood went viral, most notably with Who Killed Captain Alex?, introducing global audiences to the unique art of VJing. When he’s not performing live in cinemas, Emmy dubs around 10 films a week, released on DVD and sold in movie libraries across the country. Alongside his VJ work, he also directs and stars in his own features films.
