As part of IFFR 2026, Elsemarijn Bruys will present a newly developed site-specific installation, Reflection 2.0 at V2_. The immersive and cinematic work invites you into a reflected world that places yourself at the centre.
In a green-tinted, alienating environment, the installation plays with your role in the reflective environment. Mirrors, sound and light interact to form a space that is constantly in flux. The visitor is not a passive observer but an active force. Through their own movement, not only does the image of the body in the mirror change, but so does their surroundings. The work unfolds as a sensorial experience in which perception is continuously disrupted. Familiar forms become strange, orientation shifts, and the boundary between self and environment dissolves. What remains is a heightened awareness of presence, of seeing and being seen.
