French composer and sound engineer Nicolas Becker (Krakatoa, IFFR 2026), Academy Award winner for Best Sound for Sound of Metal (IFFR 2019), defines himself as a “sound activist”, championing the importance of sound in the world of cinema and constantly exploring new artistic and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Actor, musician and sound designer Simon Fisher Turner (Heart of Light – eleven songs for Fiji, IFFR 2026), famous for his extensive collaborations with Derek Jarman, has built a singular career at the intersection of film, music and experimental sound.
