Brutus x IFFR: Temporary Pleasure
An Uaimh Bhinn (“The Sweet Sounding Cave”) is a multidisciplinary project by artist and spatial sound composer Lugh O’Neill and experimental collective Temporary Pleasure. At its core is an installation featuring a performance among the basalt columns of Fingal’s Cave, a natural wonder on Scotland’s Isle of Staffa, famed for its cathedral-like acoustics and mythical ties to an ancient giant’s bridge.
Curated by Orpheu de Jong, a pivotal figure in Amsterdam’s music scene, the exhibition transforms the space into a dynamic environment for innovative music and performance. Shifting between exhibition, installation, and stage, it offers a constantly evolving acoustic and spatial experience.
As a continuation of our collaboration with Brutus, this edition of IFFR features two extraordinary nights of performances. For the second event Temporary Pleasure has produced a live show to demonstrate the staging capabilities of scenography through choreography, alongside Rat Section who’s very tailored and site specific performances marry choreography and space in a highly characteristic manner.

About the artists:
The Temporary Pleasure event/performance draws a connection between Lugh’s exploration of ancient sonic culture and the connection of ancient and modern ritual spaces and modern club culture. Inspired by the stone circle – one of the earliest forms of celebratory spaces – the design reimagines this ancient structure through the lens of modern club and dance floor culture. An immersive dance floor experience that takes advantage of the 360° spatial audio system, allowing sound and light to move unpredictably and transform the space into a living, evolving experience where everyone becomes part of the performance. The result is a dynamic, immersive environment that blends ancient celebration with contemporary ritual, where sound, light, architecture, choreography, and dance floor energy converge to create a new type of ritual space.
