Brutus x IFFR: Temporary Pleasure

An Uaimh Bhinn (“De Mooi Klinkende Grot”) is een multidisciplinair project van kunstenaar/componist Lugh O’Neill en het experimentele ontwerp- en performancecollectief Temporary Pleasure. Centraal staat een installatie met een performance tussen de basaltkolommen van Fingal’s Cave, een natuurwonder op het eiland Staffa, voor de kust van Schotland, beroemd om zijn kathedraalachtige akoestiek en mythische verbinding met een oude reuzenbrug.

De tentoonstelling is samengesteld door Orpheu de Jong, een spilfiguur in de Amsterdamse muziekscene. Deze transformeert de ruimte tot een dynamische omgeving voor innovatieve muziek en performance. Binnen An Uaimh Bhinn vervagen de grenzen tussen tentoonstelling, installatie en podium, en ontstaat een voortdurend veranderende akoestische en ruimtelijke ervaring.

Na eerdere succesvolle samenwerkingen, slaan we ook dit jaar weer de handen ineen met Brutus, ditmaal voor twee geweldige avonden met performances. De tweede avond wordt gepresenteerd door het experimentele collectief Temporary Pleasure. Door ruimtes te transformeren tot platforms voor collectieve muzikale ervaringen, nodigt Temporary Pleasure muzikanten, kunstenaars en publiek uit op een contemplatieve, extatische en cathartische reis – een krachtige gedeelde ervaring van geluid en emotie.

The Temporary Pleasure event/performance draws a connection between Lugh’s exploration of ancient sonic culture and the connection of ancient and modern ritual spaces and modern club culture. Inspired by the stone circle – one of the earliest forms of celebratory spaces – the design reimagines this ancient structure through the lens of modern club and dance floor culture.
 An immersive dance floor experience that takes advantage of the 360° spatial audio system, allowing sound and light to move unpredictably and transform the space into a living, evolving experience where everyone becomes part of the performance.
 The result is a dynamic, immersive environment that blends ancient celebration with contemporary ritual, where sound, light, architecture, choreography, and dance floor energy converge to create a new type of ritual space.

Rat Section are a music and performance act currently based in London. Formerly active 1989–2001, their recent reemergence came in the form of What Stays In Vegas via Halcyon Veil in November 2023 – the first album from Rat Section since the late 90s. Known for placing emphasis on choreography, set design and tailoring each performance to the space has seen them present: Splash Zone, a water based installation at Ormside Projects and 47 Lines Of Vision a modular curtain set up developed during their month long residency at Scythe, Melbourne. If Even For A Moment, The Sax Melts Our Worries Away is a theatre piece and video work that has been shown at galleries in Malmo, London and New York.
