Want to enjoy the most beautiful films from early in the morning until late at night? The IFFR programmers, in collaboration with the editors of VPRO Cinema, have put together a varied selection for the annual VPRO days. This is an event you don’t want to miss!
There are two festival days to choose from. The VPRO Review Day is on Friday 7 February at LantarenVenster. On the same day, the VPRO Review morning/afternoon/evening will take place, where you can choose a time slot and watch two out of the six films.

Memoir of a Snail
Australia – 2024 – Adam Elliot – 95 min.
Separated as children, twins Grace and Gilbert are completely alone as they try to find their bearings in the world in Adam Elliot’s masterful stop motion animation, a heavy but beautiful meditation on grief and loss.

Ghost Trail
France – 2024 – Jonathan Millet – 106 min.
A former detainee of the brutal Syrian regime tracks down the man he believes to be his torturer. In Jonathan Millet’s quietly intense thriller set in Strasbourg, justice is personal, but must be carried out with razor-sharp accuracy.

Dead Talents Society
Taiwan – 2024 – John Hsu – 110 min.
A young ghost with low self-esteem becomes the protégée of a washed-up spectress-diva who teaches her how to scare humans. John Hsu returns to IFFR with his sophomore feature, a delightful horror comedy of found family and personal growth.

Belgium- 2024 – Maxime Jean-Baptiste – 77 min.
In modern-day French Guiana, a teenage boy spends the summer with his grandmother unearthing the complexities of identity and the circumstances that led to his uncle’s murder. An intimate portrait of a family – and community – on the mend.

Vermiglio
Italy – 2024 – Maura Delpero – 119 min.
Maura Delpero’s striking pastoral drama chronicles the passage of time in a rural Italian mountain village as the Second World War nears its end, and the fate of a young woman after she falls for a handsome deserter who has taken refuge there.
Note: all films are shown in their original language. Although most films are subtitled in English, some will only have Dutch subtitles.
Tickets for the VPRO Review Day 2025 are €55 (standard rate) and €48 (youth rate; under 23).
