Over the course of some thirty years, Katja Raganelli created a vast body of documentary work consisting mainly of portraits. Its spine is made of her films dedicated to female filmmakers, but she also filmed artists of various generations and actors and actresses, as well as male directors with a deep fascination for female characters. How did this diverse output come together? How are the films, their gestation and production connected – what leads where? How could she raise interest, for her (at the time) often little-known figures, from her main source of financing: the public broadcasting chains all over the Federal Republic of Germany? And which titles remain missing in the massive mosaic that is her œuvre? As Raganelli almost never had the chance to publicly discuss her art, this will be a very special occasion for her!
