Dive into the phantasmagoric and mechanical realm of Lolo & Sosaku, the avant-garde Argentine-Japanese artist duo shaping sound and form. Since 2004, they have been crafting mesmerising sound sculptures using self-made instruments and contraptions. First performed at Sónar 2023, their live performance The End serves as the climactic conclusion to Sergio Caballero's latest film, 'Lolo & Sosaku' The Western Archive, world premiering in Harbour.
In Caballero's curious reinterpretation of the Western genre, admixed with slow cinema and art documentary, the duo become atypical heroes in a surreal Western, adorned in cowboy hats, wandering the desert in search of objects. The End takes the audience on a journey through their creative process, merging fiction with the artistic object.
Lolo & Sosaku’s work can be described as monumental, a clash between the organic and the inorganic, the real and the surreal. They employ basic mechanical knowledge and technical systems as a language, constructing a strange and inexplicable world.
Known for transcending artistic boundaries, Lolo & Sosaku's kinetic performance blurs the lines between noise performance and musical sculpture.
