90-year-old poet Jana Beranová was only a teenager when she left Czechoslovakia for Rotterdam. Abdallah Marega is a 27-year-old freerunner who has lived in both Mali and Paris. Filmmaker Laura Stek juxtaposes their stories in Vluchtval. Both tales are about a free fall and the recovery after landing. But where one finds resilience in words, the other uses movement to recover.
