Yifan Jiang and James Mercer's visual and thematic style amalgamates disparate worlds, pairing painted canvases with glitchy Windows 95 animation to tell the story of a homecoming student stranded on a volcanic shoreline in a modern folkloric fable. Vacation gently contemplates the dual wonder and conflict of the ecological and technological, with anthropomorphic animals guiding the protagonist on his journey as he abandons the familiar modern civilisation and enters a world in service of nature.
