The successful female-focused podcast Girls on Film hosted by British film critic Anna Smith (Deadline, The Guardian, BBC News, Time Out London) returns for a third live recording on stage at IFFR. This year, Smith is joined by a diverse panel including: filmmaker Karoline Lyngbye, whose feature-length directorial debut Superpositionis screening at IFFR 2023, and one of the film’s stars Marie Bach Hansen; celebrated producer and Tiger Competition judge Christine Vachon; filmmaker Nafiss Nia, whose film Die middag is having its world premiere at IFFR 2023, and film critic Dana Linssen.
A comprehensive and thought-provoking exploration into the film industry with a female perspective, Girls on Film has amassed a loyal following since its inception in 2018, welcoming guests including Carey Mulligan, Amma Asante and Gillian Anderson among a host of other notable actors, directors and critics. In 2022, Girls on Film was nominated for Best Live Podcast at the British Podcast Awards, and the same year increased its reach through the Girls on Film Awards rewarding “excellence in the field of feminism, inclusion and diversity, female representation, and the female gaze”.
The Girls on Film live edition for IFFR 2023 will once again feature fresh perspectives, insightful analysis and a chance for questions from the audience.
