International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and Library Rotterdam will screen the short film So Loud the Sky Can Hear Us together with filmmaker Lavinia Xausa on Saturday, January 28 at 11:30 and at 14:00. This event is free to attend. Bring a neighbour or a friend and experience the beauty of Rotterdam, also on the cinema screen!
So Loud the Sky Can Hear Usexplores the identity of a group of Feyenoord supporters. After hours of conversation with the film’s subjects, director Lavinia Xausa translates the sensitive stories into moving images. This filtered representation of the club unfolds a hidden world of faith, love, compassion, and vulnerability.
Is it possible to understand reality through fiction? How do we lead the subjects within the realm of our imagination? How do we turn real people into fictional characters and emphasise their words as everlasting iconic quotes?
After screening the short film, we will discuss the film and engage in a short creative exercise. During this activity, visitors will interview each other about their love stories around the neighbourhood, and draw a little storyboard inspired by them.
The workshop will be given in English but there will be Dutch translators. The film is in Dutch with English subtitles. There’s a limited capacity so please reserve your seats before through the link below.
