In the 1970s, WITCH (an acronym for We Intend To Cause Havoc) were the most popular rock band in Zambia. Now, legendary frontman Jagari's escapades are largely forgotten. The former rocker has converted to Christianity and is now working in a mine. Director Gio Arlotta and musician Jacco Gardner travel through Zambia with Jagari to dig up his past as a rock icon. Their musical voyage of discovery results in a reunion of WITCH, and a first-ever European tour.
In addition to a portrait of an icon of Zambian music, this documentary also acts as an example of the rich musical cross-pollination between Europe and Africa. Bands such as The Rolling Stones were inspired by the rhythms and grooves of African artists. They in turn inspired countless African musicians to get up on stage and combine psychedelic rock with more traditional influences. We Intend To Cause Havoc is an ode to this under-appreciated Zambian musical movement.
