He’s called ‘the Goose’: a mute young man with a childish haircut, shrugged shoulders and a striking tracksuit jacket. Reason enough for the small-town locals to write him off as an idiot. The Goose lives with a ventriloquist fellow villager and his gruesome-looking dummy. This last figure returns repeatedly in his most confused dreams. The Goose doesn’t feel at home in this environment; that’s why meeting the Time Travel Agent seems to offer a way out. His journeys by fax and his brilliant solutions for the Goose’s speech defect raise spirits. But then the miscommunication between the Goose and his fellow man gets completely out of hand. Can the Escape Artist he met in the hospital offer a way out?
In this experimental drama filled with absurdist twists, thoroughly psychedelic dream sequences play a major role. Maryniuk eagerly uses stop-motion carpet figures, silent film references, computer animation, video shots and arcade games. And tracksuits, mega-spectacles and leather jackets with pleats.
