The young beauty Ana is pregnant and unmarried and has been cast out by her rich family. She takes the lonely nurse Clara on as nanny and household help. A close bond develops between the two and blossoms into a passionate love affair. Gradually, Clara discovers there is something disquieting about Ana and her unborn baby. On each full moon, she roams the city, sleepwalking. After a fateful birth, Clara is all on her own with Ana’s special baby. Clara protects the sweet child against his fate as best she can, but the older he gets, the stronger the call of the full moon. The stylised sets, enthralling lighting and musical intermezzi make Good Manners an atypical horror film. A feast for the eyes and ears. Underlying themes such as motherhood and the class society in Brazil also give the mind plenty of fodder during what is probably the sweetest horror film you ever saw.
