Portrait of an exceptional writer – the mysterious Swiss Robert Walser. Productive, much-loved, went insane, got forgotten, rediscovered long after his death. He died on Christmas Day 1956, walking in the snow. He had been in a psychiatric institution since 1933, and was no longer writing. But countless notes were found in shoe boxes.
We travel to the addresses in Bern – over forty of them – where Walser lived during his most productive period (1920-1933). Gradually, from house to house and through excerpts from his texts, his restless life unfolds. A peripatetic existence for a restless spirit who found a home in sensitive works with a feather-light touch. Florian Haag graduated from Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design with this strikingly mature film.
