Tomorrow Is Always Too Long

Kaleidoscopic, extremely authentic portrait of Glasgow and its population by British video artist Phil Collins, who himself lived in the Scottish city for twenty years. He made this film as a commission for The Common Guild, an organisation that supports the visual arts.
Exceptional animation and spoof aerobics or astrology TV clips are interspersed with footage of maternity wards, schools, community centres, snooker halls, prisons, old people’s homes and living rooms. Michael McDonough’s sensitive camera work allows the ‘dead ordinary’ inhabitants of Glasgow to feel so at ease that they open up completely, talking about their dreams and babbling along to pop tunes they hardly know the words to.
The great soundtrack is by Scottish musician Barry Burns (of Mogwai fame), with music by singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon, performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
