‘Film is indifferent material that can be superimposed in the projector. Distributed at the gate, emulsion trumps lamplight in a shadow on the aperture’s frame shape. Up on the screen, a Punch and Judy show is acted out and emulsion is cudgelled into submission to the tune of optical sound synchronized in the mind of the audience. With every orbit, the loop is marked by temporary attitudes that are set among cyclically recurring shapes.’ (Bruce McClure)
