CJP members are served the daily special on Saturday 25 January: a big menu of three not-to-be-missed festival films plus a Q&A with one of its directors. And let us not forget the beer and ‘bitterballen’ that come with it. Your host is TV presenter Froukje Jansen. Bon appetit!
The three titles that are screened at CJP Serveert 2014 will be: Spies & Glistrup by Danish filmmaker Christoffer Boe, Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa with British cult hero Steve Coogan and the Israelian revenge thriller director Quentin Tarantino called the best film of 2013, Big Bad Wolves.
Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa – Declan Lowney
Alan Partridge (Steve Coogan) finally makes it onto the big screen as an action movie antihero. In this side-splitting, highly British hijacking drama, Partridge acts as media spokesman for a fellow DJ who has been sacked. In the true spirit of radio, they stay on the air throughout the hijacking.
Big Bad Wolves – Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado
A series of gruesome murders of young girls brings three men into conflict: the revenge-crazed father of the last victim, a renegade cop and the main suspect, a religious education teacher. Quentin Tarantino’s favourite 2013 film.
Spies & Glistrup – Christoffer Boe
Spies and Glistrup really existed – their wild adventures and extravagant ideas are thus based on fact. This bio-pic is satisfyingly unclassifiable. A free-thinking travel entrepreneur and an ugly lawyer with radical tax plans become friends in the 1960s. With a Big Talk on Tue 28/1.
