Although LA has appeared in more films than any other city, Thom Andersen believes that it has not been well served by these films. He became gradually obsessed with making a proper LA city symphony film, concentrating on small fragments of the cityscape: billboards, advertising signs, wall paintings, music fragments, building facades.
