The feature debut by the Swiss video artist Pipilotti Rist is a display of idiosyncratic cinema, a hallucinogenic trip in which all laws of physics are thrown overboard. Pepperminta is a psychedelic colour explosion, filled with strange camera positions and anarchic ideas. Just like her video art, her film debut is set in Rist’s unique universe, with the figure of Pepperminta as her alter ego. The playful protagonist lives in a futurist rainbow city and acts according to her own rules. Colours are her best friend and strawberries are her pets. She moves around with her two best friends Werwen and Edna in her bathtub and keeps her menstrual blood in the fridge. The aim of the ‘three musketeers’ is to have fun, to free people from their paralytic fears and to make the world a more human place. Gaze with amazement at Rist’s (literally) colourful view of existence.
