In the United States, military recruiters begin targeting students when they arrive in high school at age fourteen, enrolling them in a programme named JROTC (Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps). Many of the recruits are low-income, black and Latino, pressured into joining the military by the time they are eighteen.
