Harvest

Jahweve has spent his entire life on the island. He has seen the big, wide world on TV. He wants to travel, he wants to become a musician. On his small Caribbean island there is no work. Fishing doesn’t make much money, farming makes even less. Visas are impossible to obtain and flights cost a fortune. As a Rasta, the only solution is to grow weed in the mountains, but the army helicopters frequently come to the hills to burn the plantations.
One morning as he sleeps, he has a vision: he sees faraway lands, hears strange music and meets people he never knew existed. This is a sign for him to harvest his crop as soon as possible and leave for Martinique on a small boat. He plans to sell his produce in the French islands after which he can board a plane to meet his destiny. Of course nothing is ever that easy.
This is roughly the storyline of this strange hybrid film, which confronts us with a combination of the psychedelically colourful visuals/visions of the islander and his natural surroundings, and the registration of a live concert by the amazing multicultural group, Psycho Key. This band originated in Toronto and is now based in the Caribbean. Their music consists of rock vocals, reggae beats, Indian sitars, wailing guitars, and a grooved bottom-end thrown in a blender, achieving an attractive new-world sound.
