Die Hütte is based on a part of the novel Old Masters by Thomas Bernhard. It tells the story of a small village in the Black Forest in Germany where philosopher Martin Heidegger had a wooden hut built for himself and where he wrote his masterpiece Sein und Zeit. In the voice-over, we hear how Bernhard did not hide his opinion about this icon of Western philosophy.
